Hab den mal mit ChatGPT zum günstigeren Pro Modell verglichen und weil der Ultra noch Lüfter hat, ist er einiges lauter. Hat mich im Gesamtvergleich irgendwie nicht überzeugt.

Good question. Here’s a detailed comparison between [XGIMI Horizon Ultra]() and [XGIMI Horizon Pro](), with their strengths, weaknesses, and what makes one maybe a better pick for you — plus a verdict given that the Ultra is on sale for CHF 1007.

    ---

🔍 Ultra vs Pro — Key Spec Comparison & Real-World Performance

Here are the main differences (and trade-offs) based on specs + independent tests + user reports:

    1. Brightness / Light Source

    Ultra

    Spec (ISO): 2,300 ISO lumens.

    Review measured brightness:

Projectorreviews measured 2,335 ANSI lumens in “High Power” mode.

But in more usable/presets: Ultra’s “standard”/movie modes are much less. According to Projectorreviews: e.g. “Movie” mode was ~1,199 ANSI.

ProjectorScreen (after calibration) got ~1,417 ANSI lumens with usable colours.

Contrast: According to ProjectorScreen, native contrast is quite low (~432:1 after calibration) and ANSI contrast measured ~104:1 for some patterns.

    Pro

    Spec (ISO): 1,500 ISO lumens.

    Measured brightness:

ProjectorCentral: Performance mode ~1,521 ANSI lumens.

Other modes (Standard / Bright / Movie) measure around 1,130–1,200 ANSI.

RTINGS report: White light output = 894 lm, color light output = 829 lm.

Contrast (RTINGS): 1% APL native contrast ~421:1.

Sound & Vision: On a 10% window pattern (HDR), peak output measured 122 nits.

    Verdict on Brightness:

The Ultra can be significantly brighter in its “High Power” mode when pushed, giving more room in brighter environments or for larger screen sizes.

But if you run “normal” / calibrated modes, the actual gain over the Pro is more modest (Ultra’s advantage shrinks).

The Pro is still very capable in dim or moderately dark rooms, especially if you don’t need maximum brightness.

    ---

    2. Light Source Type & Longevity

Ultra: Uses hybrid light source (Laser + LED).

Because of the laser, it potentially has more punch and better long-term brightness.

    Pro: Uses LED only.

LED is reliable, but generally less “peak in brightest mode” potential compared to laser + LED.

XGIMI claims LED life on Pro is 30,000 hours.

    ---

    3. Image Features & Quality

    Ultra:

Has 1.25× zoom, which gives flexibility for throw distance.

Uses MEMC (motion compensation) for smoother motion (“motion estimation / motion compensation”) per spec/comparison.

HDR support includes Dolby Vision (Ultra does Dolby Vision).

According to RTINGS: Ultra’s white light output (their test) ~1,821 lm, good brightness uniformity (~98 %) compared to Pro ~90%.

But native contrast is weak (RTINGS: 418:1 for Ultra in some conditions).

    Pro:

4K via pixel shifting (not native 4K DMD) — standard for this price range.

Auto-focus, auto keystone, intelligent screen alignment / obstacle avoidance.

    Speakers: 2 × 8 W Harman-Kardon on Pro.

Input lag: ProjectorCentral measured ~34.6ms (1080p/60Hz) for Game mode.

In gaming, some advanced users say the lag is acceptable for casual single-player games, but not competitive multiplayer.

According to Tom’s Guide, Pro’s 9-point brightness test gave ~1,269.7 ANSI lumens.

    ---

    4. User Feedback / Common Complaints

    Ultra:

Some Reddit users mention fan noise due to the laser + iris / cooling system:

    > “The Ultra makes a lot of noise … almost like an old hard drive.”

Concerns around contrast and “washed out blacks”:

    > “Brightness is plenty … but may have difficulty with light coming in from windows … blacks are very washed out.”

Game mode: some debate on lag vs quality trade-offs when using zoom or keystone.

    Pro:

Contrast: Several users on Reddit complain that blacks / dark scenes feel “grey” or “lacking punch”:

    > “I’m really disappointed … image always gray … nothing much you can do … return it.”

Brightness mode “Performance” has been reported to have a green tint by some users.

Regarding HDMI and refresh rates: some users claim in 4K they only get 30 Hz via HDMI.

    ---

    5. Which One Makes More Sense for You (Given Your Use Case)

Given your situation (you mentioned a ~20 m² room, occasional movie watching):

Go for Ultra (CHF ~ 1007 deal) if:

You want more brightness headroom (e.g. maybe a slightly larger screen or less perfect blackout).

You might appreciate zoom (1.25×) to adjust throw / distance to wall.

You want Dolby Vision for HDR content (if you watch HDR movies).

You’re okay with potentially more fan noise in “brightest / high power” modes.

You're fine with possibly more “washed out” blacks / lower native contrast in dark scenes.

    Stick with Pro if:

You mainly watch in a dark / dimmed room and don’t need the extra brightness.

You care more about value: Pro might deliver “good enough” image quality for less.

Lower noise is important to you (LED version is quieter in many reviews).

You don’t need zoom, or your projector placement / throw distance is fixed / known.

You accept slightly higher input lag in non-gaming or casual gaming scenarios.

    ---

💡 My Verdict (with the CHF 1007 Ultra deal in mind)

CHF 1007 for the Ultra is a very compelling deal — for that money, you're getting the higher spec (laser + LED, more brightness, zoom, Dolby Vision).

If I were in your setting (20 m² room, occasional movie nights) and the seller is reliable: Ultra seems like the better buy, because the extra brightness gives more flexibility and future-proofs a little.

But: do a check — ask for a return option / test the unit, especially for brightness and noise, because “high power” modes are where Ultra shines, but they aren't always the best mode for image quality or fan noise.

If you like, I can pull recent Swiss / EU user-reported reviews specifically for these two models (from forums / Reddit / review sites) right now, to see how people in your region feel about them*. Do you want me to do that?

Eins sollte man richtig stellen.
