Few comments:
-There will be the 4800 pro with more powerful cpu for those interested in that (but it would cost more in electricity consumption obviously).
-I do have the 4800Plus since July 2025 , and while I haven't used it really yet (I can't afford the 4th HDD at the moment due to insane price increases; I got lucky I had bough RAM back then because that is also very very high).
-It's a great device, excellent price here (That NAS is even cheaper as one 20TB HDD now haha).
-I intend to put Truenas on it even if UGOS is fine for many users.
-Oh and I have 8GB official RAM Samsung that came with it, brand new, for resale (I had 64GB Kingston in July), just write a quick public message if interested. That will double the RAM (by default is coming with 8GB) which should be comfortable for many users without selling a kidney for more RAM at the moment.
I would seriously recommand that deal, but expect to use a lot of gold for HDD and RAM if *really* required...AHOY!

Ugreen hat bei den NAS echt Gas gegeben. Nutzt ihr es mit dem Ugreen OS oder installiert ihr TrueNAS darauf?

Danke für den Deal, da schlage ich wohl endlich zu und ersetze mein 13-jähriges Synology DS412+, welches genau so lange 18h pro Tag fehlerfrei gelaufen ist und vor allem für Plex und Backup gute Dienste geleistet hat.
Welche Disks, SSD für Cache und Memory Upgrade empfiehlst du? Ich werde mal mit UGOS starten, bin nicht so der Bastler, bisher auch ohne Docker gearbeitet...
1) Memory prices are too insane, and most users* don't need more than the 8GB by default. If you want to give a boost, get your hands on a cheap 8GB, which will total to 16GB. I happen to sell one new, official from Samsung, that came with my 4800Plus in July 2025. *OK beside reading you used plex and backup I don't really know your current and future usage, it's just usually most nas features aren't requiring lot of RAM.
2) For the SSD I bought a 2TB WD Red SN700 powered by SANDISK, when it used to be much cheaper (around 150chf, now it's beyond 228chf at Digitec). Because it's endurant and suitable for NAS. It's intended for apps, docker, etc...That would occupy 1 of the 2NVME slots, and you still have the default 128GB SSD where UGOS is installed (and where you can replace with Truenas if wanted, after making an image backup in case you want to revert).
3) You can replace the fan case by a Noctua, I forgot which one. Was very easy and quick.
4) The CPU fan can be replaced, so as factory thermal paste, but there are no fan compatible for sale and its a bit of an hassle for a few ° less... I did not do that.
5) For the HDD I have 3 mistakenly bought shitgate (seagate) Exos X24 instead of 4. I don't recommend. First their alleged support is abysmally bad. Second their software are awfully and dangerously bad, same as their instructions. Third, due to high demand of disk capacity and due to additional greed by shops due to high demand, the prices have taken a massive price increase, and the HDD are almost out of stock everywhere. Which means if you need a spare or upgrade you will be blocked or forced to pay a lot of CHF.
I'd go for another brand, NAS specific drives...Problem is the size, price and current availability.

Der Prozessor ist ein Argument, der Alibaba-Preis aber nicht. Da kommt dann noch die MwSt und Verzollungsgebühr dazu. So bist du dann bei etwa gleich viel und ohne richtige Garantie oder willst du das Teil dann nach China einschicken bei einem Problem?

Ah, der übliche Preispirat-Besserwisser: Noch nie bei Alibaba bestellt, keine Ahnung von Gebühren, aber Hauptsache hier Fake-Informationen posten.
